Subject: 21472/Adopt A Street Numbering & Addressing Policy Date: Thu, 4 May 1989 09:49:48 -0500 RESOLUTION NO. 21472 A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A STREET NUMBERING AND ADDRESSING POLICY FOR THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA. ___________________________ WHEREAS, pursuant to TCA 13-4-104, the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission is responsible for address assignment and maintenance; and WHEREAS, addressing assignment and maintenance is one of the important local governmental services; and WHEREAS, an accurate and consistent addressing system enables community law enforcement, fire, rescue, postal delivery and other service agencies to operate effectively; and WHEREAS, a standard addressing system is convenient for accessing various government and business records; and WHEREAS, there has never been a standardized and concise policy outlining the procedure and principles for assigning and maintaining addresses; and WHEREAS, the policy developed provides a standardized guidance to the professional staffs of the City, the Planning Commission members, citizens and elected officials for address assignment; and WHEREAS, the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission, on May 9, 1997, recommended to the City of 0C Chattanooga City Council that the attached Street Numbering and Addressing Policy be adopted; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That the attached Street Numbering and Addressing Policy be and the same is hereby adopted.
